Almost 2 Years!

It's nearly time to renew my contract at Health Works! I can't believe it's been two years already! I'm pretty gleeful, however. I love my little office, I love the other practitioners that work in the office, and I adore our reception staff. (It's usually a work-day goal to get them giggling at some point during my day, although the most I get to do is flit in and out of their work space in between my own clients.)

I think I should do a "2 years yay!" special. I'll wrap my head around it, and keep you posted!

In the mean time, my head is working on wrapping itself around some education upgrades. I tend to like the Universe to let me know where it wants me to go with these sorts of things. It's been pretty good to me so far!

Lessons from a Busy Week.

I think the last 2 weeks have been the busiest I've ever had in the Reflexology office. Busy busy!

I think it's because I'm seeing a lot of summer visitors to our area, as well has having all of my regular clients. It's delightful to see so many people. (Yes. I DO use words like "delightful" in everyday conversation. hahah.)

Things I've learned in these two weeks:
*LISTEN. I've been gifted with some incredible stories of life in wartime.
*When the air conditioner is on, there is no such thing as too many blankets.
*Bring snacks. Always.
*Sometimes the stairs to my office are a problem. Find out in advance!
*It's a good thing my therapy chair is so light, and I can do a session in a chiro office!
*When they say 'harder', they mean it!
*Do not fear language barriers.
*Bring a book.
*Bring a toothbrush.
*The ladies in reception work hard. Thank them daily. With chocolate, if possible.

The more time I spend in the office, the more I love it. I had a lady say "Oh, this must be hard on you!" My reply was "I love doing this! So it doesn't feel hard at all." 

First Accupuncture Treatment Ever!

I had my first Accupuncture Treatment EVER!

Yes, I was a little apprehensive. And then I had to laugh, because I have TATTOO'S. How could I be scared of one little needle, when I've sat for hours getting a hundred little needles??? Too funny.

Blake, at Health Works Chiropractic and Wellness Centre treated me for my lungs and general wellness. And said a lot of things about meridians and Yin and Yang energy. Mostly stuff I couldn't concentrate on, because he was tapping needles in me. Haha!

BUT, this morning, I'm so happy to report, I didn't have to use my inhaler! Usually I use it before I even open my eyes in the morning. I've been awake for 2 hours now, and it's SO curious to me! I keep sitting still to be conscious of my lungs... and realizing "Nope! Don't need the inhaler right now!"

I'm pretty tickled. Even though I'm a Wellness pracitioner, sometimes it's easy to forget to treat ourselves!

The needles were super small, (thin) and although I was aware of them, I wasn't in PAIN. There is a point between the thumb and first finger that is STILL AWARE.. and it was a challenge to try and forget about it during the treatment.

I think I may have found a new THING to add to my wellness regime.

Air Conditioning, BBQ, Business Visits.. OH my!!

The entire office at Health Works is air conditioned. It's an absolute relief to come in  out of the hot sun, into my cool little office, for both my clients AND myself. I love setting up the peaceful room for clients to relax in. But, just incase you cool down TOO much, I have plenty of soft warm blankets to keep you relaxed.

Today, however, I'll be outdoors with my parasol! The staff from Health Works will be attending the Chamber of Commerce Annual Barbeque at the Town Dock today for lunch. If you see me, say hello! I'd love to talk about how periodic Reflexology visits to your business could benefit your awesome and hard working staff!

Outdoor Reflexology Treatments. Aaaaaaah

Nice days like today WANT me to be giving reflexology treamtments outdoors.

And then I realized that I COULD!

I own a quick pop up tent, complete with bug screening. I own two folding zero gravity chairs. All of the things that I need for a Reflexology treatment could fit in a little bag.  I would only need a source of water to properly wash my hands before and after treatments.

It would be wonderful to be able to give Reflexology treatments outside in a clients back yard! Being at your place of residence, enjoying the sounds of summer in your yard. Imagine it!

FOOT SPA!

I picked this little number up today!

This is an addition for Reflexology treatments. However, I'll only be able to use this for at home treatments. My office doesn't have everything I would need to have a water bath going.

I'm really excited about it though!

At home treatments are only $70 in the Midland area. I bring my zero gravity chair (unless you have a recliner that will support your entire leg and feet. Then, we can just use yours.) And I bring lotion or oils (depending on your preference.) You can sit yourself outside, or inside. You can listen to music of your choice, or have complete silence. The actual treatment time is 60 minutes, but with the foot bath, setting up, treatment, and then notes, I suggest planning on 2 hours for home visits.

Juicy Living with Reflexology!

This month has FLOWN by! Remember how long MARCH took to get through? Sheesh.

It has been busy in my little Reflexology office this month - I'm meeting many new faces, and that just tickles me.

My room at the office has become an extension of my Little Granny Cottage, in a way. My lovely little salt lamp clears the air as well as providing warm light, I've got a selection of new meditative and healing music to choose from. Oh, and I've brought in my Juicy Living Cards.

 

So, every day, I shuffle them and flip one, and it gives us a lovely inspirational thought for the day. 

It's inspiring to me to hear how Reflexology has helped lift clients spirits, and helped them feel better and more balanced. To help you achieve Holistic Wellness is pure happiness. 

I really sat down to write something informative about Reflexology today. Instead, I find myself just feeling like I want to express a thankfulness for being able to touch so many lives - and feet!

I won an Easter gift basket today! Let me tell you the Secret of how I won.

I entered the draw some time ago. It was in support of a lovely purpose - The proceeds were being raised to be donated to a program that put books into school libraries and school classes.

I bought the ticket, without really thinking about it as a prize. I felt happy to be supporting a lovely purpose. I love books! And I loved books as a child in a BIG EXCITED way! My vibration was not concerned with the prize, but with what my money was going to do for the end recipients.

Today, when I won, this was a big surprise! And I thought, "How did this happen?" And I remembered back to the day I purchased the ticket.  My vibration was one of love, of happiness, of abundance out into the world.

When I picked up the basket today, I knew my kids would want the EOS lip balm in there, and I looked and thought of all the directions I was going to regift everything else in the basket. And then I saw something in there that I hadn't seen the day I entered the draw for it, or even until I got home... THE RED BOOK.

I have been journalling every day since participating in the month long Law of Attraction Coaching Sessions. I have a book of Thankfulness, and a book of Wisdom. My book of Wisdom is currently a dollar store coil book with a cute poppy cover. THIS book is earmarked to be my next book of Wisdom, when that one is full. And it's getting there.

What you vibrate out energetically and emotionally, you recieve back. I was excited and full of love for kids to get books that mean so much to them, and of bringing them knowledge, discoveries, a-ha moments! I recieved that exact gift back for myself.

The basket itself will most likely come into my Reflexology office to hold the free gifties I offer my clients. Now I get to have fun regifting all the other goodies in there!

The Thymus! It's NOT The Thyroid. Just Sayin'...

The thymus gland acts to regulate the immune system through the development of immune cells responsible for cell mediated immunity. In addition to immune function, the thymus also produces hormones that promote growth and maturation. Thymic hormones influence structures of the endocrine system, including the pituitary gland and adrenal glands, to assist in growth and sexual development. The thymus and its hormones also influence other organs and organ systems including the kidneys, spleen, reproductive system, and central nervous system.

I say approximately, because no two feet are exactly alike. I feel out each reflex based on the RAC Map, but also how your foot is shaped.

Behind the $20 Reflexology Special.

Next week, we kick off "The Almost Anniversary Special" with Reflexology.

I've got back to back bookings all week long, as I am offering Reflexology for only $20 a session. (They have a regular value of $50 to $60.) Regularly I charge only $35. I really want this therapy to be accessable. And often, Reflexology isn't covered under most health plans, for those who have a health plan at all.

Yes, it's almost my Anniversary with doing Reflexology. But this is about a few other things for me also.

It's about me being able to GIVE to others. This therapy is so relaxing, and has so many health benefits (and spiritual benefits if you are open to it, too.) and I really wanted to be able to have some people try it who normally might not get a chance to, or normally wouldn't think about having Reflexology at all. I believe that the Universe evens out energies put out there, and so ofcourse it is a pleasure to be giving!

It's about the absolute JOY I get from giving Reflexology to anyone. It's not only a Joy, but it's also an honour to me, to take part in someone's healing. I've seen so many clients who are feeling better and healing, who are sleeping better, who are experiencing reduced and disappearing pain and better functions. THIS is why I do this.

I am also a Reiki practitioner - Think "healing touch." When I lay my hands on your feet and channel healing energy into you, I am also experiencing this healing energy! In giving you a treatment, in a way I'm getting a treatment too. It's how I can do Reflexology for 7 hours, and still feel happy, rejuvinated, and engaged!

Music and Reflexology

I often play soft music when I'm doing a Reflexology Session. I find the energy of quiet or meditative music helps with the flow of the session. I find that the music also can really help both client and practitioner relax, and make an easier transition from the hustle bustle of every day, into a meditative state where the body can heal and repair itself.

In my office, I have a small CD player, and I've usually a few differen CD's to choose from. Classical or meditation music, that I've listened to before, to make sure there's not TOO  much excitement in the rhythm. If you are coming to have a Reflexology session with me, or I am coming to your home, and you want to choose your own music to listen to, here are a few tips:

Choose music that keeps a pretty steady and quiet pace. Whether it's classical, modern meditation, chanting, or drumming, make sure that there's not too much variation with the tempo.

Choose music that has quiet or little to no lyrics. Sometimes the words in a song can distract you from deep relaxation.

Choose a music style you like! Even if it's 80's pop or 70's folk, or the music of your youth! Not everyone can relax to classical. Just be sure that the playlist you put together has no vigorous upswings or surprising twists. Or screaming. ;)  Our goal is to get you to a deep state of relaxation, not get you ready to go dancing.

 Listen to the entire hour + long set you've chosen or put together before coming in for Reflexology. You want to be sure there are no surprises, skips, or unwanted selections. These things will distract you from your Reflexology treatment, and the healing you are trying to accomplish in your session.

When you come for Reflexology at Health Works Chiropractic and Wellness Centre, you may bring a CD you've put together, or use your mp3 player with ear buds.
